Does the iPhone 8 have a new method for wireless charging

Does the iPhone 8 have a new method for wireless charging?

Every year there is a rumour that will spread from top to bottom of the internet. This year is no different. We have a whole new range of rumours coming out of the woodworks. However, one set of rumours appear to be coming from the horse’s mouth. Further, you can check the best Apple iPads for gaming.

That is, when they’re not telling the truth, but we’ll come to that.

The iPhone 8 has been rumoured to be coming with an ‘invisible’ wireless charging feature. Not only does this mean that you will be able to charge your phone wirelessly, it’ll also work while it’s off the charge, so there’s a lot more space for selfies and Twitter like posts.

All this is great and all, but it all depends on a single source. A tweet from Apple boss, Tim Cook.

I know many of you are expecting an update on wireless charging coming in the iPhone 8, and while we’re working on it, I wanted to let you know that we are already delivering wireless charging for future products, and we are very close with the allowed regulatory approvals.

This statement, whilst being intentionally vague, appears to back up a report from Digitimes, which we saw earlier. The report from the Taiwan-based publication states that Apple will be charging at the appropriate frequency for the Qi charging standard.

Further, I want to buy iPhone for gaming purposes then you need to also buy a good broadband internet device.

This effectively confirms that Apple is working with the standard

However, there is a small catch. Apple already has an official wireless charging solution in place, Qi. This solution, launched alongside the iPhone 6, offers a magnetic induction method for wireless charging. The slight loophole is that Apple can’t use this technology for non-Apple devices, but this is pretty much the same with every wireless charging solution.

For those with an iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s, this means that they’ll be able to charge wirelessly from October onwards. The others, with older batteries, will have to wait a little longer.

What’s more, Apple already makes the Lightning to USB Type-C cable that will allow you to recharge your phone in the future.

Whether the wireless charging rumours are true or not, we’ll have to wait and see.

iPhone 8 Wireless Charging System Unlike conventional inductive chargers, Mophie’s PowerStation Wireless chargers support the same Qi wireless charging technology, allowing iPhone 8 owners to charge wirelessly. Not only will it automatically detect when your device is placed on the pad, it will also add 5W of charge on a wide variety of Qi-enabled devices. So the iPhone 8’s docked on the PowerStation Wireless Charger and you can connect your device for a full 5W of charge, and even fast-charge your iPhone 8 when it’s on your nightstand or desk.
